Getting Fit: Muscle Building Phase 1 UPDATE

Well friends, we PROMISED you in the previous “Getting Fit” post we would bring you along as we are in the process of our efforts in getting fit this time around. We have MADE YOU our accountability partners and boy do WE NEED YOU right now as we have completed the first phase. The Jessie Hilgenberg Muscle Building Phase 1 is now complete and we are here sharing our progress with you!a This fitness stuff is no joke and when it comes right down to it, the secret to building muscle, burning fat, and feeling amazing is CLEAN EATING and CONSISTENCY!   We haven’t all been perfect but we are committed to this program and we are sharing our three unique perspectives on our experience with PHASE 1.

GETTING FIT: MUSCLE BUILDING PHASE 1

Overview:

6 days/week workouts

 4 sets of 12 or 15 depending on the week!

MONDAY:  LEGS

TUESDAY: SHOULDERS

WEDNESDAY: BACK

THURSDAY: REST DAY

FRIDAY: LEGS

SATURDAY: BACK

SUNDAY: ARMS

Nutrition:

Jessie teaches the “If it fits in your macros (IIFYM)” approach to eating.  We used a formula to calculate our PROTEIN, CARBS, an FAT in grams to eat each day.  We use the “My Fitness Pal” app to track our food in macros.  This is such a great way to eat because it you can technically eat “anything” if you have room in you macros and build your daily diet around it.  However, it it always easier said than done!

OUR PHASE 1 EXPERIENCE

Phase 1 was really exciting and challenging for me as I basically just never got back in shape after having Evie (who is 18 months….). I used to workout a lot and realized how much I actually missed moving my body and feeling soreness and seeing progress happening. The first week was hard to walk lol! But I have felt significantly stronger and better each week since the beginning. I feel my body changing and surprise muscles starting to pop up from what feels like no where! Haha! I knew not to expect a big change yet since we hadn’t cut any calories yet but I am pleased with how my body is responding and I can’t wait to see how the next two phases effect my bod! Also I really love the confidence gained just from simply showing up to the gym regularly again!!!

LINDSEY

WHEW Phase 1 I am glad to see you go! Starting a fitness program is always the hardest part. I felt weak and really disappointed I was here AGAIN. Restarting once more because I couldn’t seem to get a grasp on balance. Phase 1 was a bit rough for Camille and I (my trusty workout partner), we started off strong and then fasting and prayer week happened and it went down hill from there. Taking a week off after just getting in the groove was somewhat detrimental for us and for my perfectionist self it goes against every fiber of my being.  On a positive note… the times we WERE able to get to the gym we killed it. We got our strength back from the our last program faster and was lifting more weight than we ever have before! I love love feeling strong again and can’t wait to start shedding some of the “fluff” to see the muscles we have been working so hard to build. I do feel leaner even though I don’t look it haha. At the end of the day HOW WE FEEL is the ultimate goal and I feel BETTER everyday I’m there working out and making healthy choices for my body!

CAMILLE

Phase 1 has been quite honestly a bumpy road! After being on a 4 month hiatus of binging, I was more than ready to get back on track with the MB program.  The first two weeks were great and then we did our week of fasting and prayer where didn’t continue working out and I have struggled since due to my schedule.  It was a hectic 2 weeks and it just didn’t feel like we could keep a consistent workout schedule.  SO…. here I am at progress pics time and don’t really see much progress in my photos.  Truthfully, I haven’t weighed myself or taken measurements. On the bright side, I DO FEEL like I am much stronger and more toned than when I started. I have no excuses. Changes are coming and I know what I have to do for PHASE 2.

We all have extremely HIGH HOPES for PHASE 2 and can’t wait to see continually see our bodies change! Jessie’s programs are all about long sustaining health and fitness vs the “quick fix”, again reaffirming why we choose to her programs over others. We are all in the process of LOVING our bodies where they are at and appreciating our ability to move and be active! Until our next check in lovelies!
